The Library at IIST has a balanced collection of books, journals, and e-resources covering all major subject areas. The book collection has relevant textbooks, supplementary reading materials, and reference books. The collection is developed based on need with the active participation of faculty and students under the guidance of the Library Committee with representatives drawn from faculty and all sections of students.

The library ensures access to its materials by providing open access system to the collection of documents, and by show casing e-resources through library portal. E-resources deployed in the campus-wide network contain more than 18000 e-journals, hundreds of conference papers, standards etc. Being a member of ONOS Consortium library has enabled IP-based access to 30 major international publishers. In addition, library provides access to e-resources through the Antariksh Gyaan consortium and subscribes few resources directly.

The Library is housed in a six-storied building at the hub of the campus. The library's operations are automated using Koha ILMS, and the online catalogue of the library (OPAC) ) is accessible from anywhere in the campus on a 24x7 basis, which has provisions for searching, and making online suggestions for purchase of books/journals. IP based access is provided for e-resources and off-campus access is enabled through IIST Virtual Library (IVL).
