IIST IEEE Industrial Applications Society Student Branch Chapter (IIST IEEE IAS SBC) is a dynamic community dedicated to advancing knowledge and fostering innovation in industrial applications. Our chapter aims to provide a platform for students interested in fields such as electrical engineering, automation, power systems, and manufacturing to explore their passions, and develop practical skills. Through a diverse range of activities including technical seminars, workshops, and distinguished lectures, we strive to create opportunities for learning, networking, and personal growth. Our leadership team, comprised of enthusiastic students and guided by experienced mentors, works diligently to organize engaging events and initiatives that benefit our members and contribute to the broader academic and industrial community.

Activities
IEEE IIST Student Branch, IEEE AP-S, MTT-S, and IAS SBC IIST, and Conscientia (Annual Astronomy and Technology Festival) of Indian Institute of Space Science and Technology in association with "IEEE AP-S and MTT-S Kerala Chapter" organized a " Three Minute Project Thesis Competition (3MPT)." This event was a chance for undergraduates and post-graduates to showcase and present their innovative projects. With over 20+ participants under the 3 tracks (APS/MTTS/IAS) for Undergraduate and Graduate categories, the contest was one of the most sought-after events by young professionals looking forward to showcasing their innovative ideas and creativity.
IEEE IIST IAS Student Branch Chapter organized an expert talk on “Powering critical applications on earth, moon and beyond” by Dr. Harish Sarma Krishnamoorthy, University of Houston, Texas on 21-12-2022. Dr. Harish Sarma Krishnamoorthy is an IEEE Senior Member with 5 years of industrial work experience in electrical/ electronic product design, research and development. He completed his PhD in Electrical Engineering (power electronics) at Texas A&M University and is currently working as Assistant Professor in the ECE department of University of Houston, specializing in power engineering. Until June 2017, he worked in Schlumberger as Electrical Engineer for downhole wireline tools, primarily high temperature power supplies and inverters.
IEEE IAS Student branch chapter, IIST in association with IEEE Student Branch IIST and Conscientia organized the hands-on workshop. Mr. Naufal and Mr. Prateek were the resource persons of this workshop.
IEEE IAS Student branch chapter in association with IIST, IEEE Student branch IIST, IEEE IA/IE/PELS Jt. chapter Kerala section successfully organised the expert talk on "FPGA for embedded applications." The expert talk was given by Dr Kuruvilla Varghese, Chief Scientist, DESE, IISC Banglore.
IIST IEEE IAS student branch chapter won the best student branch chapter award under 'IEEE IAS IES PELS joint chapter Kerala’ in 2018.
R. Sudharshan Kaarthik was awarded with Outstanding Researcher Award by IEEE Kerala Section in 2022.
He was also awarded with Outstanding Professional Volunteer Award by IEEE IA/IE/PELS Jt. Chapter, Kerala in 2023.
Prasoon Chandran Mavila was awarded with the IEEE Industry Applications Society Annual Meeting Travel Award 2019 at the '54th IEEE Industry Applications Society Annual Meeting' at Baltimore, Maryland USA.
